The Goose Barn 5311 Charles Street Rockford, Illinois 61108
From Madison & Milwaukee Coming from the North, down 90/94 take the 2nd Rockford exit (East State St. / Business 20) and veer to the right coming off the ramp. This will be E. State St. Take this street (west) to Mulford Rd. Watch for the "Forest Plaza" on your left, with The Olive Garden, Don Pablos and Taco Bell. After passing these restuarants, move to the left lane. At the corner you will see The Outback restaurant. Turn left (south)on Mulford and go 1 1/2 miles, crossing Newburg Rd. and then the next light will be Charles Street. Turn right (west) on Charles Street and go 1/2 mile. We are the second barn on the left, tucked away in a long row of tall pine trees, directly across from The First Baptist Church. There is a white mailbox saying WILSON 5311. Assuming you are driving North on Route 39, take the Route 20 exit West toward Freeport. Take the first exit, which is Alpine Rd. Turn right (north) onto Alpine Rd., travel to Charles Street about 2 miles up Alpine. Note: Charles St is easy to miss coming this way, so, watch for the Alpine View Restaurant and the F & F Tire World on your right. Turn right on Charles St, drive 1 mile, watch for the blue and white Calvary Christian Church sign on the right and we are the next drive, directly across from the First Baptist Church. There is a row of tall pine trees along the road, a large white mailbox that says Wilson 5311 and a big Betsy Ross flag painted on the front of the barn. From Chicago Coming from Chicago, into Rockford on 90/94 West, take Route 20 West to Freeport to the first exit at Alpine Rd. Turn right at the light, travel north to Charles St. **See directions from the South to continue. From Iowa Approaching Rockford from the west, you will be driving on Route 20. Take the (Route 20) bypass to the right when it splits, instead of driving through the entire city of Rockford. The bypass will enable you to take a faster route to the barn. Exit at Alpine Rd., turn left at the light, travel north and check the rest of the directions on the "coming from the South" section. © Tom Henderson, 1999 |
